Theme of the special exhibition event: Heaven & Hell Hong Kong 2012.
Heaven & Hell is an opposing yet perpetual concept that
suggests there are good in bad and bad in good in everything in this world.
It is hell. It is paradise.
A long time ago,
Hong Kong was praised as “shopping paradise”,
later known as “cuisine paradise”.
Paradise is a heavenly place, a dream, a pursuit, a target…
There’s an old Chinese saying often appears in movies, “you don’t take the road to heaven,
but push yourself to hell where there is no door”, meaning you bring yourself to trouble;
Another famous saying, “If I don’t enter the hell,
who else would?”, meaning you devote yourself to endure human sufferings for the sake of the world.
There is heaven and hell in mythic world.
There is heaven and hell in religious world.
Heaven and hell in the West.
Heaven and hell in the East.
If the hell is located in the deepest underground between the East and the West,
then,
which side of the sky above will the heaven be closer to…
There are also two sets of concept in Buddhism:
Heaven is here, and hell is here.
Heaven and hell is in a flash of thought.
After all,
everyone has their own heaven,
and a hell that no one wants to talk about.
Let us sit on the mat and contemplate.
